Mitchell Community Health Service
The Mitchell Community Health Service is available to actively support and help connect with individuals, families and communities affected by the bushfires to enhance health and well-being.
For more information please visit the website http://www.mitchellchs.org.au/ The Mitchell Community Health Service website provides access to the Bushfire Psychosocial Recovery Database which contains information about the services offered and also a calendar of community events.
The database covers eleven health & support service categories ranging from
- Counselling covering 15 specialisations (including the ATAPs and Vouchers psychology programs)
- Drug & Alcohol services
- Mental Health services
- Social Work/Personal Support services covering not only the traditional health service providers but also the philanthropic based organisations such as Centacare and Kildonan.
- Social support services from Red Cross, Salvation Army programs and the YMCA.
Services are provided both in Mitchell & Murrindindi as well as across the Whittlesea, Nillumbik and Yarra Ranges Shires to residents of and from fire affected regions.
Residents can see the services available to their towns and, by drilling down to the provider, can see the services offered, the method of delivery, to whom the service is directed, how to contact the provider and the likely waiting time for the provider to make contact.
The calendar brings together community and recovery events from across the region into a single point of reference and provides further links to activities such as the Marysville Big Screen schedule and the YMCA School Holiday programs.
